Epoxy Flooring & Epoxy Floor Coating Explained

First let me start by telling you what quality garage epoxy is not. It is not the kits you buy at big box stores or the Do-It-Yourself products you buy online. These store and sites tell you how much money you are saving. What they do not tell you is how much time, energy, and money you will waste over time. An epoxy garage floor coating is not paint.  Paint for garage floors is a latex acrylic product.  Some paints will have a small percentage of epoxy added to the mix to make it more durable than standard paint, but it is still paint.

Our top quality epoxy is an actual thermosetting resin that is applied in multiple stages. It is formed when you mix one part epoxide resin with one part polyamine hardener.  The hardener acts as a catalyst and is what gives epoxy its strength. The application process only comes after our "proper prepping stage" using high speed floor grinders. If you want to really know why our floors are the best you can buy, click here to read about our 5-STEP PROCESS of installtion.

Epoxy does not dry like paint. Rather, it cures or hardens inot a solid state surface. When the two parts are mixed, a chemical reaction is started which creates an exothermic curing process.  This curing process produces polymer structures that are closely cross-linked giving epoxy its superior strength and durability.  The end result is a coating that is much thicker than paint and bonds tenaciously to a properly prepared surface.

I have always been confused about the right use of floor latex! This blog helped clear out all the doubts without making anything complicated in the process.

I was captivated when you mentioned that epoxy treats or hardens a concrete surface. My husband is thinking of getting epoxy floors. I think we should go for it and hire a contractor for the job.
