Epoxy flooring is a way of sealing and protecting concrete floors. An epoxy coating can prolong the life of your floor, and also achieve a great look. An epoxy floor is created when a protective resin is applied over the top of an existing concrete slab. This epoxy resin is clear, and will create a glossy but non-slip surface. These kinds of resins are often used over specialist flooring like terrazzo or marble.

Commonly found in garages and basements, epoxy is a combined chemical that consists of a resin and a hardener which, once dry, produces a tough, long-lasting coating. In addition to being strong, this coating is impenetrable to oil and is slip-resistant, making it an excellent product to use on flooring in a heavy-traffic area. However, the industrial world isn't the only place where epoxy flooring is hailed. Within the design industry, epoxy is recognized as being more than just a way to protect a floor. It's also viewed as an extremely versatile product, capable of transforming a ho-hum area into a show-stopping work of art. So, even if you don't need an industrial strength floor, you might consider getting epoxy flooring for its aesthetic appeal.

Part of the interest designers have in epoxy flooring is that once completely dry, the floor will present a high, glossy shine. Although this gloss is common to any epoxy brand, many companies achieve this look by putting an additional topcoat over the standard epoxy mix. Fortunately, with some companies, that's not necessary. All of their epoxy mixes contain a built-in UV inhibitor -the ingredient necessary to produce long lasting sheen. This gives the buyer a professional shine without the added work.

Picture
Another reason that epoxy flooring is on a short list for designers is that it can be easily personalized. The two chemicals that are mixed together to create the epoxy are also referred to as the base coat. And, gray is no longer the only option when choosing a base coat. Now, basecoats are available in any color imaginable. This means that designers can select a color that compliments, contrasts, or highlights the space they're reinventing. The color options are only limited by the company that offers them. You are encouraged to check out the many colors at their disposal. Some sites, you'll also find an Interactive Design Tool. Here, you can view the colors and get assistance in deciding which is the right shade for your project.

Picture
The personalization of epoxy flooring does not stop at basecoats. In addition to choosing a floor color, buyers also have the option to enhance their floor's uniqueness with anti-slip flecks. Generally, these anti-slip agents are chips that come in various colors and are sprinkled on top of poured epoxy (prior to it curing). Anti-slip flecks are made of acrylic and provide a decorative touch to an epoxy floor. Available in a rainbow of colors, these flecks, in conjunction with the base coats, give epoxy flooring a burst of color. The Interactive Designer tool on these sites is also a great resource to match up base coats and flooring flecks.

If you're still apprehensive about having an epoxy floor because it sounds like a lot of work to apply, don't worry. Not only do these companies have everything you need to lay an epoxy floor, they also provide it in one neat bundle. Each of their custom-sized epoxy garage floor paint kits comes with all of the tools and materials necessary to apply the floor, and the installation process is only 3 easy steps. This ensures the customer a simple installation that produces showroom results.

Car guys flooring has the highest quality garage floor paint to make any garage look like a professional show room. Find epoxy flooring that is right for your personal touch, and give your car something durable, easy to clean, and stylish to rest on.

Flooring is an important decision to make for the home, commercial business, or industrial sector. Every type of flooring has its benefits and its drawbacks. However, seamless epoxy flooring provides numerous benefits in a cost effective way.

Epoxy floor coating is a flooring surface made up of multiple layers of epoxy applied to the floor to a depth of less than two millimetres. Epoxy is made up of resins and hardeners. The resin and hardener are mixed together to chemically react. This forms a rigid plastic material that is strong, resistant to degradation, and which bonds extremely well to its substrate.

Epoxy floors are incredibly strong and can be used in the most demanding industrial environments as well as provide a beautiful addition to a regular trafficked floor. High grade epoxy resin is used to upgrade surfaces, obtain coloured effects, protect floors against corrosion, and achieve a water tight effect. All of these qualities provide longer durability of surfaces.

Epoxy can breathe new life into old floors. It is able to be applied to existing floors as well as new ones. The coating is a great method to makes sure commercial or shop floors will look their best and the finish will last for many years. Epoxy will protect floors with a plastic-like finish.

It comes in a variety of colours and styles. A simple, solid colour epoxy floor is perfect for industrial companies. This colour can be chosen from a standard colour palette. There is also the option of adding colour flakes and a clear coat, giving floors a showroom appearance. Materials used to make epoxy floors are stronger than concrete.

Coating used in seamless floors is UV resistant against rain and sunlight, designed to shine for years. Epoxy coating is very easy to clean and it does not pick up dust. The installation is simple and quick. It can be used in any place where flooring is required and provides a perfect finish.

Epoxy floor coating provides a sanitary and skid-proof surface even when wet. It is dust free and resistant to acids, suitable for any industry. Epoxy adheres well to surfaces made of concrete, metal, tiles, wood, and more. It has high resistance to abrasion and chemicals such as alkalis, gasoline, greases, thawing salts, and solvents. Adding coloured silica makes the floor attractive.

Attractive epoxy floors will make any area beautiful and will increase the value of the structure the floors are being installed in. Epoxy will protect and extend the life of concrete if applied over the previous concrete flooring. Epoxy floors are easy to clean and are amazingly resistant to bacteria.

Epoxy protects against oil and chemicals, meaning less dirt and dust debris will be tracked into the home or business. Epoxy provides a waterproof barrier that is resistant to mould. Radon gas emissions are reduced when choosing to install an epoxy floor. Epoxy provides a unique and durable flooring application with many customizable options and light reflectivity.

Every floor project is unique. Coating solutions will add value to the floor by making it shiny, better-looking, more efficient, and better protected. Applicators are committed to provide a personalised floor coating system and specification solutions per every flooring need.

Expert and experienced professionals will proficiently test and prepare the floor using state of the art methods. This is followed by installation of floor coatings that are suitable per each floor requirements.
There is another kind of epoxy floors called flake epoxy seamless floors. These are versatile and can be used for water-exposed surfaces. This application method offers diverse size flake and a limitless colour range with many regular colours.

These floors are personalised to suit the needs of the company. Most floor and wall surfaces can receive flake epoxy coating, including concrete, wood, bricks, tiles, metals, enamels, and bench tops.

Garage floor epoxy coatings are a popular, functional, and cost effective way to finish a room or large area. One of the ways that the basic concrete can be treated to create a different look and texture, while also providing a stronger and safer surface, is to have epoxy floor coatings applied. There are numerous benefits in having a garage floor epoxy coatings on a concrete floor, most of which will help to extend the life of the floor, and potentially even make the flooring more functional. Not all concrete floors are suitable for epoxy floor paint, but with modern materials, most surfaces can be treated to accept the coating without a problem.

With garage floor epoxy coatings, the basic texture of a concrete floor can be changed so that it can be better utilized by a home or business. The coating can have a non-slip substance added to it, or rely just on the properties of the epoxy itself to provide a very slip-resistant surface that can even help in situations where there is some moisture or liquid on the floor. Additionally, certain types of coatings provide a finish that is so strong that it can resist damage from dropped items and will stand up to high heat. At the same time, some coatings are designed in a way that allows moisture to move up through the epoxy, preventing moisture held in the underlying concrete from destroying the finish.

Aesthetically, garage floor epoxy coatings can turn a neutral, grey concrete floor into a vibrant and colorful element of the room that matches the walls and other fixtures. Most epoxy floor coatings can be tinted or colored so that once dry the floor has a distinct color. Flooring professionals can offer a more elaborate coating that matches natural materials such as granite or marble for an elegant appearance. The reflective surface of the epoxy will also refract light into the room from the ground up, increasing the overall brightness of the space.

Modern garage floor epoxy coatings have many technical features that make them an excellent choice for a variety of different rooms. They are available in several different grades, from light coatings suitable for decorative areas, all the way up to very heavy duty coatings that can withstand heavy machinery or cars. Some epoxy floor paint is self-leveling for a perfectly flat floor, as well as allowing installers to run the finish up a small portion of the contacting walls for a more professional and consistent appearance. Finally, garage floor epoxy coatings are more resistant to staining and is far easier to clean over time than a bare concrete floor.

The Benefits of Having Epoxy Flooring for Your Warehouse

By Guest Author: Ann C Smith

While warehouses don't necessarily have to look fashionable and stylish, they need to be clean, organized and professional-looking. They also need to have good flooring. With busy traffic inside warehouses, floor flatness should be very well considered. A good floor profile is very essential to achieve a better flow of movement. If floors are bumpy or have lots of holes in them, however small, they can do heavy damage to equipment.

A much recommended type of flooring in warehouses is epoxy flooring. But what exactly are its benefits?
First up would be that epoxy flooring is quick to install. You can stop worrying about the downtime needed in its installation because you will not have to extend hours to set it up. Installing epoxy flooring only takes a short time. Because it is quick to install, you save a lot of time and you can start on your operations early.
Next is that it is easy to do a clean-up. When you use only regular floors, you waste so much time cleaning them up when they are soiled. And you will be disappointed to see that after hours of cleaning, they still look dingy and disgusting. These are unlike epoxy floors. They are characterized by a non-porous surface so they do not absorb the liquids that are spilled on them. Spilled liquid on epoxy flooring only beads and can be cleaned in a breeze. Because they are quick and easy to clean up you do not only save a lot of time but also money from buying many cleaning materials.

Thirdly, epoxy floors have chemical resistance. Most of the time, warehouses and industrial factories carry chemical substances. During operations, they can get spilled onto the floor and once they do, they can damage it. Some chemicals like acids and abrasives wear dents and pockmarks on the surface. This can definitely affect your floor profile and your floor flatness. But when you use epoxy flooring, you will not need to worry too much on spilled chemical's effects because it will resist them. Epoxy flooring can withstand a wide range of chemicals and maintain your floor flatness.

And last but not the least is its durability. Epoxy floors can withstand all sorts of abuse that it can last through years. It can withstand daily traffic from heavy-duty equipment like forklifts and such. These vehicles can mar the floor surface by scruffing, scraping and putting other kinds of stress on the floor. The strong cohesiveness of epoxy floors enables it to endure stress and maintain the floor profile. Its durability saves builders money from repairs or replacement. Creating that perfect flooring for your business warehouse is not that easy. You don't go discovering the proper floor flatness and say 'all is ready' just like that. There are actually a number of things to consider such as the appearance of your warehouse. Just like any business operation, everything needs full-on research for the success of your business.

Why are our floors the real deal? It's the 5 Critical Steps in Our Installation Process

7/29/2017

Our documented 5-Step application process is one reason home and business owners chose to purchase our services. That detailed and advanced process combined with the fact we only use the very best quality chemicals and materials available make our floors the best you can buy.

We only use non-toxic chemicals with low VOC (See VOC definition below) so that harmful vapors will not be produced that could possibly affect our workers, your family or pets. If you are the business owner, it will not harm your employees or customers. All of our installers are trained, certified, authorized and highly experienced in epoxy floor coating applications.

Picture
STEP 1

We start with a diamond grinder to process your existing floor to a sandpaper-like finish. This sand paper finish insures that the industrial 2-part epoxy seeps into the mechanically opened capillaries of your floor surface to create a solid-state bond with absolutely no peeling properties. Note: If there is any crack or pit repair to be done, a second technician will be using a "crack runner" tool to prepare the cracks and pits for our "flaw repair" compound.

STEP 2
We calculate the exact chemical mixture needed for the base coat of our industrial 2-part epoxy. This base coat must be applied flawlessly and with exact preciseness to insure a complete, seamless, beautiful finish. The chemical is poured and spread with rollers. The reaction time of this chemical mixture varies according to temperature and moisture. Our installer technicians are trained in assessing and manipulating this cure time if needed.

STEP 3

One of the extra advantages of a Lifetiime Epoxy chip-coverage floor is that we always broadcast 100% chip coverage. We elect to do this for three reasons; 1. It makes your look look great with a terazzo or granite like finish. 2. Full chip coverage provides better cushion and added protection for your floor surface. 3. 100% chip coverage makes the floor finish perfectly uniform with a texture finish. Some homowners elect to go with solid colors. If you desire a textured solid floor finish, our technicians cal add a "granular agent" to provide a more non-slip finish.

STEP 4
A  bonding sealer is added.

STEP 5
A top coat of polyurea is added. This is one of the most difficult challenges of epoxy floor installation. The reaction time of this top coat is another factor that our trained technicians can determine and properly adjust to if necessary. Application speed, uniform tool movements, and proper application approach is crucial during this final stage to insure a consistent, uniform, and aesthetically appealing floor that has the durability and performance level we warrant our floors to provide. This top coat is formulated to provide UV protection and extremely durable finish.
