Thanks to its variety of uses and longstanding reliability, industrial epoxy is a popular choice among manufacturers. This heavy-duty polymer can be used on almost anything, ranging from concrete floors to water tanks, expensive industrial equipment and much more. Due to the substance's naturally occurring properties, industrial epoxy is both long-lasting and extremely durable. Its chemical makeup accounts for its ability to form firm bonds, allowing for even the toughest of materials to be joined together. Because of this capability, industrial epoxy is heavily relied upon in the manufacturing world. When sold for industrial use, epoxy is typically shipped in oversized containers, each capable of holding large quantities of the substance, and is most often bought in bulk by manufacturers.

Most manufacturers use expensive equipment that is frequently exposed to corrosive substances, including water, alkali bases and harmful chemicals. In order to safeguard this equipment from further deterioration, companies rely on various types of industrial epoxy as a solution to these problems. Not only is this substance capable of repairing damaged industrial equipment, but its protective polymer coating provides long-lasting prevention against corrosion.
Industrial epoxy is also used as a reliable method for both repairing and maintaining concrete floors often found in warehouses, manufacturing centers and industrial plants. Given their constant exposure to heavy industrial traffic, these concrete floors become spalled and worn over time, which eventually leads to the development of holes and cracks throughout the concrete flooring. Manufacturers use industrial epoxy to repair damages, while simultaneously resurfacing the floors with a resilient protective coating. This industrial epoxy coating is capable of withstanding tough impacts, harsh abrasions and heavy traffic, along with offering resistance to strong chemicals, solvents, cleaners, corrosives and acids.

Water and waste management equipment, including pipes, water tanks, wet wells and basins, can easily erode due to their constant contact with elements such as salt water, mineral acids, alkalis and sewage. To repair current damage while preventing future deterioration, manufacturers apply an anti-corrosive coating to all water and waste management equipment. Not only will it repair any preexisting corrosion, but it will provide long-lasting protection against future damage, despite being faced with high temperatures, harsh chemicals and abrasive materials.
Overall, the development and use of them by manufacturers has proven to be a great success. In addition to the range of things for which it can be used, it also offers protection for your important assets while saving money in the long run. With the variety of industrial epoxies currently available on the market, manufacturers can be sure to find the right product to fit their company's needs. Their ability to repair damage while withstanding dangerous substances and extreme conditions, makes it an invaluable commodity for manufacturers across the world.

Lifetime Epoxy: Technological Breakthroughs Bring Industrial Epoxy Flooring Into the Residential Garage

Picture"After Picture" Beautiful, seamless coating.
By  Lifetime Epoxy Guest Expert Author: Edward Winslow

Until recently a high performance industrial epoxying flooring project took four days to complete. At that rate the labor and material cost made it prohibitive to make a profit on a 500-750 square foot garage floor. That has all changed with advanced technology coatings which have become available during the last few years.

There are varying quality coatings available today from thin Do It Yourself floor paints to high quality epoxies and polyureas. For years epoxy was the only product available. A high quality system was applied in numerous layers at the rate of one coat per day. The first coat was a primer followed by two coats with sand broadcast into each layer, then finished with an industrial strength urethane.

Picture"Before Picture" Ugly, stained, dingy eyesore.
Then along came polyaspartic & polyurea coatings. Polyaspartics were originally developed for coating steel to prevent corrosion. Their high performance properties led to use for other applications. It was discovered that polyaspartics performed exceptionally well on concrete plus had a rapid curing process. In fact numerous layers could be applied in one day rather than the typical four day application with industrial epoxy flooring.

The competition to epoxies from these new technology rapid curing polyureas led to advancements with a fast cure. The rapid cure process opened up the largest untapped markets in home improvement. Now a home owner can have their concrete floor surfaced by a professional who has made a business remodeling the garage. It is profitable for a contractor to resurface a floor in one or two days but not four. Now a home owner can get the same high performance concrete floor coating that is applied on a large industrial floor. The reason being is that professionals with a local internet strategy can reach the market of home owners who are searching online.

PictureA+ BBB Rating - Lifetime Adhesion Warranty
The internet has enabled the garage flooring professional access to a volume of business. The combination of high performance, rapid curing floor coatings combined with an internet strategy provides an entrepreneur with a business model that is profitable. Home owners benefit with quality at a reasonable cost that adds value to their home.

This market is flourishing during a recession. The recession actually may be a blessing to the growth of the garage remodeling market. New buyers are cost conscientious and have found a remodeled garage a valuable use of space. A remodeled garage with industrial epoxy flooring or polyurea coating blocks moisture making homes dryer and provides a surface that is bright and clean. Once the floor is complete a home owner can outfit the garage with cabinets and shelving that are functional and decorative. Once a home owner has a functional and clean garage they don't use valuable interior space for storage. Now a home owner can have a smaller efficient interior space with a well organized garage that is remodeled inexpensively.

There are various kinds of flooring available in the market and the most popular is concrete flooring. Concrete is considered to be one of the hardest and most durable materials. It is scratch resistant if laid out properly and no wonder it is extensively used in garage floors and manufacturing floors which are very prone to scratches. Polished concrete is long lasting and is available everywhere hence very economical in nature.

Such kind of flooring finds great use in basement floors, warehouse floors, office floors and school floors as they prevent accumulation of dust, dust mites, and animal dander rendering a safety environment to the people. These floors are highly non allergenic in nature. Cleaning these types of flooring is very easy as they can be easily mopped, swept and vacuumed as per one's convenience.

If you want decorative concrete floors then stained concrete is one of the promising options available to you. There are various contractors who will provide you with this option. This type of flooring finds great use in strip mall floors, driveways, sidewalks, pool decks and other concrete surfaces. This is also known as colored concrete; the main attraction of this is that it allows for creativity, professional techniques, and vibrant color combinations.

Epoxy floors are very hard and durable in nature. They are used for concrete coatings and use the grinding leftover of resins. These surfaces find use in hospitals as they are anti allergic in nature. Now it is important to manage these floorings. Repairing concrete is very important and this can be done by several methods. First of all we have to gauge the level of damage depending on which we can go for the various repairing methods.

Concrete sealing has become a very important finishing and repairing item. It is one of the best curative agents. It acts as a shield and barrier on the existing concrete and protects it from corrosion. This application blocks the pores and prevents absorption of water and diminishes damage. But we have another option to prevent cracking of the floors. This is known as control joint repairs. It is a point made by the masons so as to allow the tile or floors to crack in a particular direction and up to a certain level. This is very handy and helpful as we can always estimate how much the crack will be and how we can repair it.

By Our Guest Author:  Richard Alone

Most garage floors in Alabama are considered a wasteland as it cannot be used for any purpose. Most homeowners consider garage a wasteland. For most homeowners the garage is the black hole of their home's universe. Unwanted items from all other areas of the house are pulled in, stacked and forgotten until one day you open the door, look in and realize you can't see from one side to the other. But if you do little bit of work it can turn out to be an attractive and valuable space to spend your time and store some of your valuable possessions. Many homeowners store all their valuable possessions like ATV's prized automobiles in this less prime condition.

You can make your garage attractive by installing garage coatings. Such type of coatings will protect your garage floor and look great at the same time. If this part of your house looks good, you're more likely to keep the rest of it organized and in good shape.

One main reason why homeowners do coating in garage is due to its sharp appearance. This coating are available in many different colors, and you can add flaking materials to give it more traction and a classier appearance. Another advantage of taking up garage coating is because they extend the life of your garage floor. Most are made up of a high-grade epoxy which repels water, oil and other materials, resisting the contaminants that eat away at your floor and eventually cause it to fail. Most auto shops have attractive garages due to garage floor coatings.

Various types of garage floor coatings are available in the market but the most popular ones are epoxy based paints. Do make sure that your floor is in the right shape for the paint to take. One of the best ways to test it is to pour some water on the floor and see if it soaks in or beads up. If you see it is still sitting there after a few minutes, you have to treat your concrete with a sealer and you can break that down or etch it before you apply the coating. You have to purchase a special concrete etching solution that breaks down the sealer and your floor is ready for final application. After that, make sure your floor is as clean as possible before starting the job.

Many people use coatings to protect their floor from harmful chemicals, destructive scratches and mechanical shock due to cleaning equipment. Different types of garage floor coatings are available in the market like epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic sealer and latex. Many homeowners use polyurethane coating as it can resist chemical pills. This coating does not fade off easily. You have to first apply epoxy paint on the floor and then use polyurethane coating on the floor. However, latex paint can fade easily as they are exposed to sun and so it is advisable to apply a protective coating over it.

Great Floorings For Your Alabama Garage - Epoxy Floorings

By Lifetime Epoxy Guest Author:  Martin Applebaum

Installing an epoxy floor is a labor intensive process that only should be undertaken by trained and skilled professionals. Epoxy floorings are floorings applied with layers of tough, long lasting coating called epoxy.  Epoxies are used to produce sparkling, clean and durable flooring.

Also, it is applied to protect paint on the flooring from grease, oil and other substances.  However, not all floorings can hold epoxy coating.  So, before you apply epoxy on your flooring, you should assess first the condition of your concrete if it produces moisture or not.  Flooring that produces moisture usually destroy the ability of the epoxy to bond.  Hence, it is not suited for epoxy coating.

Also, you must not apply epoxy coating if your flooring was applied with concrete sealer.  On the other hand, if you have a new slab, wait for at least a month for the flooring to be thoroughly dry prior to epoxy application.  And, if you have painted floors, the best option for you is to remove the old paint before applying any kind of epoxy.  In addition, you should also consider the air temperature in your garage.  For optimal epoxy drying, air temperature should be between 60 and 90 degrees with the minimum concrete temperature of 55 degrees F.

The outcome of your epoxy flooring also depends on your planning and pre work.  Pre work involves oil spot removal, floor cleaning and degreasing, floor etching with mild acid, and floor scrubbing, vacuuming and rinsing.  If your floor has no cracks, you can immediately apply the first layer of epoxy.  However, if your floor has cracks, it is recommended that you fill the cracks first before applying the first layer of epoxy.  The second layer of epoxy is applied the day after.

Picture
Another critical decision you should make is the type of epoxy you should use.  Epoxy floor coatings are tough resins, which are available into two separate parts.  There are three types of epoxy: 100 percent solids, solvent-based and water-based.  The first one mentioned on the list is almost pure epoxy.  It lacks solvent.  Hence, it is easily dried up and is difficult to handle. This kind of epoxy is better left to the experts.
The solvent-based epoxy has 40-60 ratios, that is, 60 percent solid.  Experts usually prefer this type of epoxy because it penetrate and adheres well.  Also, solvent-based epoxies are available in a different range of colors.  However, solvent-based epoxies are too strong and might be hazardous. It is recommended that you use a properly fitted respirator while handling this type of epoxy.  Also, your garage should be well ventilated.

Similar to solvent-based epoxy, water-based epoxies typically have 40-60 ratios.  The advantage of this type of epoxy is it is not hazardous and it is widely available.  Solvent-based and water-based epoxies should be applied in two coats to increase their durability and life span.  The price of all epoxies depends on the amount of epoxy in the mixture.

Epoxy floorings are great for your garage floor.  It can handle car tracks, oils, grease, chemicals and scraping.  So, try having epoxy flooring and you will appreciate its benefits.

How To Choose An Alabama Industrial Coating Contractor

By Lifetime Epoxy Guest Author Allen Cole

Painting and coating industrial equipment is not something that any regular painting contractor can do. If you have a job that needs to be done, you will want to make sure the person you are hiring has the proper experience. Working with cryogenic tanks requires expertise that can not be easily found. Doing sufficient research on your end will keep you from making a bad mistake. If you hire a contractor that does not have sufficient experience in industrial coating work, you doing yourself a disfavor.

For instance, fireproofing is something that should not be taken lightly at all. Given that you probably don't know the ins and outs of what this process entails, you could easily be fooled by someone who says they do. The finished job may appear fine, but how are you to know if the equipment is really being protected? Could you bear the loss of your plant in the event that a fire does occur? Here are some helpful tips for hiring the right painting contractor.

Hiring the right company for the job: what you need to know

  • Offers a wide range of services
  • Customer reviews and history of past projects
  • Certified

Here you go. This is the list you need to familiarize yourself with. A industrial flooring contractor will provide limited service. If you need dust-free abrasive cleaning, fireproofing, or cryogenic tank coating work performed, the person you pay should be able to do it all. If upon initial consultation they appear confused or uncertain of your request, this should raise a red flag. Most qualified industrial painting companies will specialize in particular areas, but they generally have the ability to work on various projects.

In addition to providing a broad range of services, it is always wise to get customer reviews. Any company worth their weight in gold, especially in this industry, will be glad to put you in contact with previous clients. They also should have a sizeable portfolio on hand that demonstrates their capabilities to meet your specific needs. It is never a good idea to work with someone that does not have track record. Being established in the industry is very important, and should be a determining factor in your eyes when the time comes to hire someone.

Industrial flooring contractors require certification to work on specific machinery and equipment. If your company is in the mining industry, the person you hire should be BROWZ certified. If they are not, then you will save yourself a great deal of liability issues by turning them down. This is the first thing the contractor should mention. If they cannot produce this documentation, then you shouldn't even consider hiring them. Thus, a professional industrial painter will be able meet all your needs, and they will proof to back it up, both via past work history and credentials.

Best Garage Floor Options for Huntsville and Madison Alabama

10/26/2019

By Lifetime Epoxy Guest Author: John Sheppard

Are you looking for the best garage flooring options for your home? Lifetime Epoxy has installed high quality garage epoxy floors for almost a decade. But purchasing a floor is a substantial investment that requires a lot of research. Here are some tips for choosing your garage flooring solution.

A garage floor covering helps your garage in two ways. The garage floor is better protected and it is much prettier to look at. Everyone who likes working in their garage will want to install a covering. A garage without covering is like a man without Sports.

There are several types of coverings like: epoxy garage floor covering, roll out floor coverings, vinyl garage floor covering, linoleum floor covering, interlocking garage floor covering. You can choose the type of covering you would like to install depending on what you want to do with your garage and how much you would like to spend inside it. An epoxy garage floor covering is the best if you work a lot in your garage and you also want your garage to look spotless. It's a bit expensive though. Roll out floor coverings are the cheapest but also the most modest ones. They don't really improve the look of your garage much, they just protect your concrete and you from slipping. If you want to turn your garage into an extra room, the best choice would be interlocking garage floor covering.

A garage floor covering can help you a lot. It can also save you a lot of time. It's true some of them are harder to install and more expensive, but some of them aren't. That depends entirely on how much you want to spend on the looks of your garage. If you spend time in your garage to work on your car or something else you surely would like a covering. Not only that it protects you from slipping but it also makes it easy for you to clean the floor. The concrete is also being protected from all sorts of chemicals, gas, oil and so on. These are things that could deteriorate the concrete in time. Another good thing that a covering can do for you is hide the cracks and uneven spots in the concrete. Of course, not all types of coverings can be used like that. For example, for the epoxy covering, you need to repair all the cracks and uneven spots in the concrete or the covering will not bond. The concrete must also be clean for the epoxy covering to be applied successfully.

So, in my opinion if you really like your garage and you spend a lot of time in it, the best way to help your garage is to install a covering. It's your choice what type of covering you would like and it is also your choice on how much you want to spend on it. But even the cheapest covering can help you save time and protect yourself and the concrete.

John Sheppard works a lot in his garage, and that's why he installed garage floor covering

Alabama Restaurant Flooring - Resinous Flooring Types and Options for Your Commercial Eatery

By  Lifetime Epoxy Guest Author: Victor Pachade
Today's restaurant customer has an excess of choice and a dearth of time and patience. His or her loyalty is to the brands and the stores that consistently deliver the fastest, easiest and most out of the ordinary experience.

While good food and excellent customer service are crucial for return business, the ambience of a restaurant is also important. You want customers to feel comfortable and enjoy their meals. Restaurant design sets the stage for customer's dining experience. Loud music, granite tables and carpet floors sets an entirely different mood than jazz, linen table cloths and polished concrete floors. While there several elements that go into creating a unique ambience in a restaurant, the choice of floor covering plays a major role.

Types of resinous flooring for restaurants:

a. Polished concrete flooring: Whether the existing concrete is polished or a layer of self-leveling concrete is applied, polished concrete floors offer an organic - natural feel to the ambiance. Polished concrete floors can be integrally colored, stained or dyed. This type of flooring is typically used in dining areas of the restaurant. Getting a custom look to a restaurant floor is the biggest factor. Color-matching, custom logos, creative patterns, way-finding design, and textures are what draw restaurant owners to choose concrete for their final surface. There are a variety of custom options that can be applied to concrete restaurant floors.

b. Lumiere, designer epoxy flooring: This type of flooring consists of blend of designer epoxy resin with metallic powder colorants integrally colored and installed in such a way that each floor becomes a piece of art in itself. No two floors can ever be the same with this type of flooring. Lumiere designer epoxy flooring is also used in dining areas. Usually one or two coats of polyurethane coating is applied to protect the surface.

c. Kwortz, decorative quartz flooring: This type of flooring is a blend of industrial grade epoxy resin and quartz granules applied in two or three layers for a total thickness of 1/8". Decorative quartz flooring can be installed as a cove base also. Therefore, it is usually applied in kitchens and restrooms. They are seamless floors with very high impermeability.

d. Polyurethane concrete floors: This type of flooring is a blend of polyurethane resin, portland cement and graded aggregates. Polyurethane cement floors are known for thermal shock resistance and therefore are very popular in food preparation areas.

Recently, polished concrete flooring was installed in Potbelly Sandwich shop in New York City.
"Our customers love the new design. And we love it because although the overall effect is leading-edge design and distinctive styling, the concept is cost-effective to implement - which will be vital as we franchise." - Gabby Yifrah, Project Manager, Potbelly Sandwich Shop.
