Flooring is an important decision to make for the home, commercial business, or industrial sector. Every type of flooring has its benefits and its drawbacks. However, seamless epoxy flooring provides numerous benefits in a cost effective way. Epoxy floor coating is a flooring surface made up of multiple layers of epoxy applied to the floor to a depth of less than two millimetres. Epoxy is made up of resins and hardeners. The resin and hardener are mixed together to chemically react. This forms a rigid plastic material that is strong, resistant to degradation, and which bonds extremely well to its substrate. Epoxy floors are incredibly strong and can be used in the most demanding industrial environments as well as provide a beautiful addition to a regular trafficked floor. High grade epoxy resin is used to upgrade surfaces, obtain coloured effects, protect floors against corrosion, and achieve a water tight effect. All of these qualities provide longer durability of surfaces. Epoxy can breathe new life into old floors. It is able to be applied to existing floors as well as new ones. The coating is a great method to makes sure commercial or shop floors will look their best and the finish will last for many years. Epoxy will protect floors with a plastic-like finish. It comes in a variety of colors and styles. A simple, solid color epoxy floor is perfect for industrial companies. This color can be chosen from a standard color palette. There is also the option of adding colour flakes and a clear coat, giving floors a showroom appearance. Materials used to make epoxy floors are stronger than concrete. Coating used in seamless floors is UV resistant against rain and sunlight, designed to shine for years. Epoxy coating is very easy to clean and it does not pick up dust. The installation is simple and quick. It can be used in any place where flooring is required and provides a perfect finish. Epoxy floor coating provides a sanitary and skid-proof surface even when wet. It is dust free and resistant to acids, suitable for any industry. Epoxy adheres well to surfaces made of concrete, metal, tiles, wood, and more. It has high resistance to abrasion and chemicals such as alkalis, gasoline, greases, thawing salts, and solvents. Adding colored silica makes the floor attractive. Attractive epoxy floors will make any area beautiful and will increase the value of the structure the floors are being installed in. Epoxy will protect and extend the life of concrete if applied over the previous concrete flooring. Epoxy floors are easy to clean and are amazingly resistant to bacteria. Epoxy protects against oil and chemicals, meaning less dirt and dust debris will be tracked into the home or business. Epoxy provides a waterproof barrier that is resistant to mold. Radon gas emissions are reduced when choosing to install an epoxy floor. Epoxy provides a unique and durable flooring application with many customizable options and light reflectavity. Every floor project is unique. Coating solutions will add value to the floor by making it shiny, better-looking, more efficient, and better protected. Applicators are committed to provide a personalized floor coating system and specification solutions per every flooring need. Expert and experienced professionals will proficiently test and prepare the floor using state of the art methods. This is followed by installation of floor coatings that are suitable per each floor requirements. There is another kind of epoxy floors called flake epoxy seamless floors. These are versatile and can be used for water-exposed surfaces. This application method offers diverse size flake and a limitless colour range with many regular colors. These floors are personalised to suit the needs of the company. Most floor and wall surfaces can receive flake epoxy coating, including concrete, wood, bricks, tiles, metals, enamels, and bench tops. By Guest Author: Anthony J Davis Not every epoxy garage floor coating is the same and with garage flooring, like many other things in life, you don't always get what you think. When learning about something new, such as garage floors, it's not hard to skip some features which may be important to you, especially if you didn't even know they existed. For example, let's examine a lesser known epoxy paint specification that may still be very important to you. Let's take a look at the idea of an epoxy coating's percentage of solids. Percentage Of Solids? What Does That Mean? Obviously all epoxy garage floor coatings start in a liquid form. Otherwise there would be no way to put it on the concrete garage floor. The term "percentage of solids" is an indication of the amount of the chemical mixture that will be solid in the end. To understand this, think about an epoxy adhesive. When you use epoxy adhesive, it's completely solid when it dries, with no evaporation. In the case of an epoxy coating, though, this might not work quite this way. But Where Is The Percentage Of Solids Listed?
Like most companies, regardless of the products they produce, the manufacturers of epoxy garage floor coatings tend to leave out any specifications that their product does not excel in. This makes it harder for the consumer to know if he is getting the appropriate product. In general, those epoxy coatings that are not 100% solid won't tell you in so many words. Instead, they will be referred to as water, or acrylic based. Of course, any epoxy garage floor paint that is 100% solids will generally advertise it quite proudly. Do I Really Need An Epoxy Paint Blend That Is 100% Solid? You really, most likely, do not. However, you might miss the extra solidity if you ever drop a tool onto your nice, shiny, painted floor. Most people use some sort of garage floor covering on their paint to keep it nice looking, so they'll never even notice that they're using one of the many garage floor finishes that are water based. However, there's just not that much of a difference in price between 100% solid, and the watered down epoxies. Some water or acrylic based paints even cost more than epoxy blends that are 100% solid. This is one of those industry secrets that probably wouldn't be considered socially acceptable if the general public even knew. Why Every Epoxy Garage Floor Coating Is Not 100% Solid The most likely reason is profit margins. Any successful company makes the least expensive product and sells it for as much as possible, while not risking their reputation. So, if they can water it down a bit, charge the same amount, and have people buy it and be happy with it, then why not? Does this mean that you should avoid all water based epoxies on principal? Well, that's where you have to make your choice. Do you go with the little guy who doesn't have the reputation but promises a better product for less, or do you buy from the big name and hope you don't notice the difference? When shopping for an epoxy garage floor coating, like many other things, it really just depends on the type of consumer you are. These industrial facilities include airport terminals, automotive showrooms, facility maintenance plants and warehouses. Both epoxy and elastomeric floor coatings will provide a professional look to your facility, but epoxy tends to be the most popular - and for good reason. If you have ever been to an automotive showroom or facility maintenance plant and have noticed skidmarks or scuffing on the floor then it is apparent that the building manager did not choose an epoxy floor coating. If you choose an epoxy floor coating for you warehouse, you won't have to worry about floor scuffing, scraping or skidmarks showing up. An epoxy floor coating for your warehouse will make your floor able to endure the tough environments on which the wear and tear of your fleet of warehouse vehicles would normally damage the floor without epoxy coating. Epoxy can withstand even the heaviest of vehicle usage, including forklifts and other heavy warehouse equipment. Furthermore, epoxy floor coatings are durable enough to resist chemicals, acid and abrasives that may be present in your warehouse. An epoxy floor coating can be installed easily, with minimal down time. The product is quick and simple to apply and will cure more quickly than elastomeric coatings. It is imperative that the epoxy is mixed properly to ensure correct curing. Some epoxy coatings require a certain amount of time to be set aside between mixing and application, which is called induction time. Cleanup is easy when using epoxy floor coatings, so you won't have to worry about damage from spills or accidents. One drawback to using an epoxy floor coating is that it can develop a yellowish hue during the curing process. If this happens, there is nothing you can do to correct the problem. You will need to install a new coat over the failed one. However, when epoxy floors cure properly, it will provide your warehouse with a clean, smooth and shiny finish, which will convey cleanliness to your clients and workforce, as well as a scrub-resistant surface that makes for easy cleaning. The sturdy and appealing aesthetic is especially attractive in a warehouse setting. Once the epoxy floor coating is installed, you'll notice the wonderful aesthetic appeal of the floor. It provides a great shine and its unmatched durability will enhance your warehouse environment. Your clients will see a professional and clean environment with a luster that outshines other industrial facilities and commercial buildings. Both epoxy and elastomeric floor coatings require careful preparation and application. Know how you want to use your warehouse space and take into account the amount of traffic, cleaning and environmental conditions to which the floor will be subjected. An epoxy covering will give your warehouse space a practical and attractive floor. Mr. Oliver is a marketing agent of AllWarehouses.com.
